There’s too much fragmentation. There also isn’t an “anchor store” that brings people in and increases activity in more niche areas.

What are some things that you enjoy or dislike about the Fediverse so far.

Pros and cons like most things. I enjoy the more overall laid back crowd that seems to be a little on the older side compared to Reddit. Sticking with Reddit though there's just less of everything, less content, less people, and less trolls. This however is not necessarily a bad thing overall though (especially the trolls) given that the content here is less diluted and more valuable, same with the discussions.
Like many have harped on though Reddit kind of turned itself into an answer hub so even without an account anymore I still on occasion need to go back for a solid answer on something. I'm sure given time that will change but for now I'm still hopping fences.
@TheCrispyDud I try to put the answers I get from reddit when I need the answer, on the fediverse so hopefully others can find without having to go to reddit, this seems to sometimes help.
I’m seeing the exact same fatal flaw I’ve seen on every single form that gets any traction where moderators are afraid to ban people, or at least temporarily ban them, when they are just generally disruptive/acting like assholes. Just because someone doesn’t clearly 100% break a rule to the T doesn’t mean they should get to stick around. Disruption is grounds enough to remove someone.
You do not have an obligation to free speech. You are not a government entity. Yes, it is laudable to embrace different points of view and allow the free exchange of ideas. But some people are just assholes and keeping them around is bad for the community. Don’t be afraid to ban those people.
I keep a finger over the "block" button at all times. Which isn't to say that I block anything I disagree with - but some people just show their colors so fast.
